Comparisons of inequality are usually created using mais (more) or menos (less) together with the contractions do (m = of the/from the) or da (f = of the/from the) and que (than), for example:

Luis é mais rico do que Jorge.
Luis is richer than Geroge.

Minha irmã trabalha menos do que nós.
My sister works less than we do.

Superlatives are usually created using the definite article [o (m; sing.), a (f; sing.), os (m; pl) or as (f; pl)] and de (or the appropriate contraction of de) together with mais or menos. For example:

Paulo é o mais alto homem da cidade.
Paulo is the tallest man in the city.

Esta aquarela é a menos bonita de todas.
This watercolor is the least pretty of all.

Gilson canta mal. Ele canta pior do que nós. Ele é o pior cantor do mundo.
Gilson sings badly. He sings worse than we do. He is the worst singer in the world.

Minha irmãmais velha é a mais alta da família.
My older sister is the tallest one in the family.
