Most Portuguese sentences can be made negative by placing não [no/not] before the verb, for example:

Esta maçã é muito grande = This apple is very large
Esta maçã não é muito grande = This apple is not very large

Eu falo português muito bem = I speak Portuguese very well
Eu não falo português muito bem = I don't speak Portuguese very well
